Nigeria Gathers as Governor Adamu is Honoured at Abeokuta

It was a gathering of distinguished Nigerians as Nasarawa State Governor added another feather on his already crowed cap over the weekend. The occasion was the conferment of the traditional title of Teruuru of Owu Kingdom on Governor Adamu by the paramount ruler of Owu – Abeokuta, Oba (Dr.) Olusanya Dosumu, Amorore II.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Adamu expressed deep joy in receiving the title which he said will strengthen the bridge of cultural affinity between the people of Nasarawa and Ogun states. According to Adamu, “let us never under-rate the weight of acts of kindness such as this shown by one community to another, particularly when the communities are separated by tongue and geo-political divisions”.

Owu kingdom is the home town of Nigeria’s President Olusegun Obasanjo where he also sits in the traditional council as the Balogun of Owu Kingdom. The Owu quarters of Abeokuta is the one of about four areas that make up the ancient town of Abeokuta which serves as the capital city of Ogun State. The highly prestigious title of Teruuru makes Governor Adamu a member of the inner chambers of the Owu palace.
