NEW MATERNITY WARD FOR FMC, KEFFI

NASARAWA State Government has promised to build a befitting Maternity Ward for the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi. The State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu made the promise when he visited the centre on Monday, 12th Feb. 2001.

Speaking after an unscheduled inspection tour of the centre, Governor Adamu observed that the present maternity Ward at the medical centre was too congested.

Governor Adamu then requested the Medical Director to send a design of a modern maternity ward, with a promise that the State Government would begin the construction of such a ward as soon as the design was made available to it.

The Governor said that his administration believed in the principle of co-operative governance pointing out that any Federal institution established in the State would be assisted by his government to enable it offer adequate service to the people.

He said that the state government was still maintaining its staff at the centre, which was formerly housing the Keffi General Hospital, before its conversion into a Federal Medical Centre.

The Governor expressed satisfaction with the tempo of renovation work being executed at the medical centre, and expressed hope that the state government would not regret handing-over the General Hospital to be converted to a Federal Medical Centre.

Speaking earlier, the Medical Director of the Centre, Dr. Danjuma Sulai commended Governor Adamu for the support which his administration had given to the centre.

Dr. Sulai thanked the Nasarawa Government for particularly purchasing a 500 KVA electrical transformer for use by the Medical Centre.
