Governor Adamu Calls For Religious Tolerance

Governor Abdullahi Adamu has called for religious leaders and preachers to exhibit a spirit of tolerance in their dealing with people of other faiths. The Governor stated this while addressing a mammoth crowd at the official investiture of a honorary Doctorate Degree on the Aren Eggon, His Royal Highness Dr. Bala Angbazo. The Carolina Christian University, USA, conferred the degree on Dr. Angbazo in recognition of his meritorious service to humanity and Christianity.

Governor Adamu stated that the main plank of his administration is education and that the government will do everything to partner with all educationists for the progress of the state and nation. Beyond this, Governor Adamu continued, the administration believes that in this time of the nations development, religious education was required to raise the spiritual level of the populace.

The happy mix of both Muslims and Christians at the ceremony drew the praise of Governor Adamu who said it was an exhibition of the religious tolerance existing in the state. He said the presence of both himself and the Emir of Lafia, who were Muslims at the ceremony was to show to the whole world that both Christianity and Islam could co-exist side by side without any friction. He therefore said Nasarawa state would always stand as a shining example of religious tolerance.

In an address at the ceremony, the chief celebrant, HRH, Dr. Bala Angbazo said he was greatly honoured by the great award. He thanked the government and people of Nasarawa state standing behind him at his time of honour. He pledged to continue working for the growth of Christianity in his domain and beyond.

An Honorary doctorate degree was also conferred on Dr. Joseph Masin, the Christian Association of Nigeria Chairman in Nasarawa state at the ceremony.

Prominent citizens of Nasarawa state and politicians attended the investiture ceremony.
