Moslems pay Sallah homage on Governor Adamu

Moslems in Nasarawa state have paid the traditional sallah homage on Governor Adamu in Lafia. The homage is always paid by Islamic faithfuls during their religious festivals.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Adamu called on all the people of Nasarawa state to be united against the forces of evil and support government efforts at developing the state. He used the opportunity to remind his audience about the initial stalled development of the state and urged them to be patient with his administration. He recalled that the state was started on a wrong foundation because the initial administrators had no interest in developing the state and so this administration had to start all over again. He therefore called on all citizens of the state working at the federal level to mount pressure on federal authorities to site projects in the state instead of dissipating energies on criticisms.

Earlier, the Emir of Lafia and leader of the delegation said it was mandatory in the Islamic religion for faithfuls to pay homage on their leaders. He said such visits hold the promise of spiritual blessings. He expressed his worries over the recent circle of violence in the state and urged all people to forgive their neighbours. He lamented the lack of federal projects in the state and urged government to express the concern of the people of the state.

The visit was followed by the traditional exchange of gifts and merriment.
