Governor Adamu Receives Fourth Honorary Doctorate Degree

Sunday, March 19, 2006

Honour once again came the way of Governor Adamu at the weekend as he was honoured with a doctorate degree in law by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State. It was a double joy for everyone as newly sworn-in governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, came in to show solidarity with his colleague in what is undisputedly his first official function.

The award of another honourary degree, coming a week after the University of Port Harcourt had just honoured the governor, was in recognition of Governor Adamua's contributions to the educational development of Nasarawa state.

An air of jubilation filled the convocation square at Awka when the citation of Governor Adamu was being read as the people of Nasarawa state who had thronged the arena dancing in celebration of their leader and the man the popularly call "the bridge". In the citation, it was announced that Governor Adamu was being honoured for monumental developments in the field of education and public policy formulation.

The award is now the fourth Governor Adamu is receiving from Nigerian universities in three years. The first was by the Rivers State University of Science and Technology; then the Federal University of Technology, Akure and lately, the University of Port Harcourt.

In attendance at the ceremony were the Governors of Anambra and Rivers States, Senators, Federal Executive Council Members and top politicians from across the country.
