Wednesday, April 02, 2003

The campaign tour of Governor Abdullahi Adamu has entered its second day. And on this day, it took[Image] him to three more local areas in the western senatorial district.

The first port of call was the Toto Local Government Area. Governor Adamu used the occasion to install the Chief of Toto who had recently been upgraded from a third class chief to a second-class chief. In performing the ceremony, the Governor urged the people to learn the virtues of accommodation and harmonious living. He said the history of the area is replete with squabbles and this was not too good for development. He therefore sued for peace in the area. The chief of Toto or “Serkin Toto”, Mallam Mamuda Dangana thanked the governor for the honour done to the Toto people through the upgrading of the stool.

After the ceremony, the Governor mounted the rostrum where he addressed party faithfuls. He called on the people to support him and other PDP candidates in the elections starting April 12. He urged the people to vote wisely so that the democratic dividends being sought by all people will be given to them. He promised them that both the state and federal governments would develop the area by building[Image] roads and bridges. Some people who recently decamped to the PDP where introduced to the public where they apologized for their past misdeeds against the Governor.

The next port of call was the Gadabuke local area where a monmouth crowd was waiting to receive the Governor. In an address to them, Governor Adamu said his second tenure would concentrate on rural development. He said he had started this already when his administration upgraded chief and created new chiefdoms. The Gadabuke rural electrification project would soon be completed; just as he will put pressure on the federal government to complete the Abaji-Toto-Nasarawa road. He solicited the support of the local people for his re-election and that of other PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.

At Nasarawa local area, the Governor commenced the visit by paying a courtesy call on the Emir of Nasarawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ramalan Abubakar. The Emir wished him well and requested him to put[Image] pressure on the federal authorities to complete the Nasarawa-Loko road as well as undertake the rehabilitation of the Nasarawa waterworks.

During the Nasarawa rally, Governor Adamu thanked the people for their unflinching support for the PDP and all its candidates. He said the federal government was committed to finishing all the projects in the area, just as it has completed arrangements to undertake the Nasarawa water project for a sum of N2.6 billion.

In all the council areas visit on this tour, the people pledged their absolute support to the re-election cid of Governor Adamu promising him their votes at the election.
