Governor Adamu Confered With Chieftaincy Title

The Ooni of Ife, Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II has confered Governor Adamu with the distinguished Traditional title of Aare Obateru of the Source, Ile-Ife. Ceremonies commemorating the conferement of the title were held at Ife at the weekend at the Royal Palace Courts.

The ceremony which drew a large number of politicians was attended by about twelve Governors, many deputy governors and several members of the federal executive council. Also in attaendance were captiains of industries and traditional rulers from across the country led by the chairman of the occassion and emir of Kano, Dr. Ado Bayero. Other prominent traditional rulers in attendance were the emirs of zazzau, Shehu Idris; Kazaure, Najib Mohammed; Keffi, Mohammed Chindo Yamusa and a host of others.

The traditional investiture which was to formally confer the title on Governor Adamu is in appreciation of Governor Adamu's many developmental achievements across the country. The Ooni, in an announcement said Governor Adamu has become a friend to all in the nation and one whose achievements cannot be overlooked across the country.

In an address at the ceremony, Governor Adamu said he was grateful to the Ife traditional council for the investiture and pledged to do his best to advance the relationship between the north and south by building bridges of love, understanding and unity.

The ceremony was attended by political and economic big wigs around the country with the deputy governor of Nasarawa state, Labaran Maku leading the state delegation.
