[Image]Children in Nasarawa state have been assured that government will ensure that it provided access to the best learning facilities for them. Governor Adamu gave this assurance while addressing school children who paid him a courtesy visit in Government House Lafia as part of activities marking the Day of the African Child in Nasarawa State.

Governor Adamu assured the children that government belonged to them as future leaders of tomorrow and as such, they should strive to excel in their vocations. He assured that government will strive to ensure the equality of sexes in all its policies, assuring that under no circumstance will government allow anybody to be exploited.

It was for this reason that education was made free and compulsory for all children up to junior secondary in the state. This policy was to ensure that basic education was provided for all citizens of the state. He promised to build a zoo and museum for children of the state.

Earlier, in their separate presentations, three children in the delegation commended Governor Adamu for his social policies especially in the areas of education, rural roads, electricity and water supply. They asked government to adopt policies that will ensure a bright future for the children of the state and to provide a conducive and peaceful environment for them to pursue their education. They also condemned media attacks on Governor Adamu.[Image]

The Day of the African Child is celebrated in June every year in commemoration of the murder of children in the Soweto (South African) riots.

The children were accompanied to Government House by their teachers, the women members of the executive council and women politicians in the state.
