Frontline Women Politicians Pledge Support for Governor Adamu

Governor Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa State has received accolades for his exemplary and purposeful leadership. This was the position of frontline women politicians when they paid a courtesy visit on Governor Adamu at Government House, Lafia.

[Image]Led by Mrs. Hannatu D. Agyas, the women pledged to mobilize all women in Nasarawa state to support Governor Adamu for the 2003 gubernatorial elections. The women leader who listed the sterling qualities of Governor Adamu said he was one of very few politicians in the country who always fulfilled their promises. She thanked Governor Adamu for his relentless battle for the emancipation of the womenfolk and said he was a shinning example to politicians in Nigeria.

[Image]Responding, Governor Adamu thanked the womenfolk for the support they have given the state government and implored them to continue in the same vein. Governor Adamu said the PDP was a party that believed in gender equality and equal opportunities. He therefore urged the women to continue their sensitization efforts among their colleagues.

In response to their request for a vehicle, Governor Adamu handed them the key to a 15-seat bus for their campaign activities. He challenged them to use the bus judiciously and for the purposes of enhancing their objectives.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Prof. Onje Gye-Wado, the PDP chairman of the state and frontline politicians in the state were in attendance during the visit.
