House salutes Gov. Adamu over appropriation bill

Monday, November 29, 2004

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed a resolution commending the state governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, for presenting the 2005 Appropriation Bill to the legislature in good time.

Moving the motion, the House Majority leader, Alhaji Abdulhameed Yakubu Kwara, said the governor had done well to have hastened up the presentation of the 2005 Appropriation Bill unlike what transpired in previous years.

The majority leader pointed out that the highest allocation of four billion naira to education was a clear indication that Governor Abdullahi Adamu attaches great importance to education.

In his own contribution, the Deputy Speaker, Barrister Bala Robo Ayaga, said even though the governor had only performed his executive duties by presenting the 2005 budget, he deserved to be commended for doing so early.

Hon. Nathaniel Elang representing Karu- Gitata constituency in his contribution called on Governor Adamu to try as much as possible to implement the 2005 Appropriation Bill beginning from first day of next year.

Earlier, the Speaker, Alhaji Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, welcomed the members from the three weeks recess and charged them to tighten up their belt so as to face the challenges ahead of them.

Alhaji Onawo said the 2005 Appropriation Bill would be given its first reading within the shortest possible time and would be passed before the beginning of next year.
