Governor Adamu Receives Nigeria's Representative To Miss Tourism Pageant

Thursday, January 15, 2004

Governor Abdullahi Adamu (Sarkin Yakin Keffi) has received in audience Nigeria's representative to Miss Tourism World Pageant held last month in Switzerland.

Miss Chinda Kpanga, an indigene of Wamba local government area of Nasarawa state and a second year Theatre Arts Student of the University of Abuja paid a courtesy call on Governor Adamu to formally thank Nasarawa state government for the financial and moral support it gave her for the competition.

Accompanied by her father and younger sister, Chinda who was officially presented to the Governor by the Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, Abdullahi Makeri, bagged the 10th position in the pageant that featured 55 contestants.

The beauty queen contestant disclosed that she was working on a proposal to have Nigeria host the 2004 World Tourism Contest towards the end of the year and sought governor Adamu’s consent to name him as the event’s coordinator.

Responding, Governor Adamu congratulated the contestant for placing 10th in the competition, a position he remarked, earned her a pass mark. Nothing that it was not easy for people to participate in such contests because of cultural inhibitions, encouraged her to continue in her quest for excellence while wishing her the best in her endeavour.
