Over N860 Million Collected at Governor Adamu’s Re-Election Dinner

[Image]A fund raising dinner held to launch Governor Adamu’s re-election bid in Nasarawa State has netted over N860 million. Friends and associates of the Governor at the event attended by President Obasanjo and the Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Audu Ogbeh raised the money.

Speaking at the Ibrahim Abacha Youth Center venue of the dinner, President Obasanjo extolled the virtues of Governor Adamu and described him as an asset to the Nigerian polity. He said Nasarawa state was lucky to have a man of his political stature as Governor and urged the people of the state not to toy with the Governor’s re-election bid as it will not be good for the state.

[Image]The President said Governor Adamu has contributed immensely to the political development of Nigeria in the past four years. In his words, Nigeria needs Governor Adamu, Nasarawa needs Governor Adamu and I (Obasanjo) need Governor Adamu.

Chief Launcher at the ceremony, Alhaji Mohammed Indimi said the achievements of Governor Adamu in the past 4 years deserved the acclamation of all people. He therefore urged the people to contribute to the cause of his re-election. He donated five million Naira. Various other people donated the sums which totaled over N860 million at the last count.

[Image]In appreciation of the donations, Governor Adamu promised to continue to serve the people on the basis of the foundations already laid. He promised to ensure that the people reaped the benefits of their confidence on him and urged them not to voted in thugs and charlatans.

The dinner was attended by a cross section of the political elite in Nasarawa state.
