Governor Adamu Bags Another Fellowship Awards

[Image]Governor Abdullahi Adamu, basking from his victory at the polls, has bagged another fellowship award. This time it is an honorary fellowship of Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara state. The fellowship was conferred on him today at the Government House, Lafia.

In a speech at the award ceremony, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Razaq Bello said the award was given to Governor Adamu in recognition of his meritorious service to Nigeria. The Rector specifically mentioned Governor Adamu’s role in dousing the tension that gripped the country during last year’s controversy between the national assembly and the presidency. He also put on record Governor Adamu’s profile around the country and the level of development Nasarawa state had attained since he assumed the position of leadership in the state.

[Image]In the well-attended ceremony at Government House, Governor Adamu said he felt a sense of personal fulfillment and honour that people hundreds of kilometers away from his domain were acknowledging his modest achievements to Nasarawa state and the country. He said his philosophy in government was that the totality of his actions and inactions as a public administrator must to a large extent determine the extent of the socio-economic and political direction of our country.

Governor Adamu used the occasion to review his educational policies in the past four years, saying it was the realization of education as the guiding light of politics that made him to establish various educational institutions at all levels. The net effect of this policy was the Nasarawa state was building its young ones for leadership positions in the future. He therefore dedicated the award to the people of the state for creating a conducive environment for the achievements recorded thus far.

[Image]Referring to all the elections that were held in the past two weeks, Governor Adamu thanked the people of the state for returning him back to office and voting massively for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He assured the people that he would re-strategize to provide more quality service to the people of the state. He also thanked the authorities of the Federal Polytechnic Offa for the honour done to him.

The Deputy Governor, Prof. Gye-Wado; Deputy Governor elect, Labaran Maku; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Musa Agyo where among the host pf top government officials who attended the ceremony. The Registrar and Bursar of the institution, Messers Oyewole Olatona and Prince Akingbade Latilo accompanied the Rector to the ceremony.
