Governor Adamu In Abuja: Visits Senate President, Speaker House of Representatives and Inspector General of Police

[Image]Governor Abdullahi Adamu on Monday took time to visit various national officers at Abuja in conjunction with the elected members of the national assembly from Nasarawa state.

First to be visited was the Senate President, Adolfus Wabara where the Governor used the opportunity to congratulate him formally for his election as Senate President. He said Nasarawa state was happy to be involved in the process that led to the emergence of Wabara as senate president. He expressed his desire to work with the new leader to bring about harmonious executive/legislative understanding. He pledged the support and cooperation of all National Assembly members to the leadership of the national assembly saying that was why they came on the visit with him.

[Image]Next to be visited was the Speaker of the House of Representative, Alhaji Bello Aminu Masari. Governor Adamu used the occasion of the visit to also congratulate him on his election and likewise pledged the support of the state to him. Governor Adamu and the Speaker discussed many matters of mutual interest including the anticipated restructuring of the local governments as proposed and discussed at the last council of state meeting. In attendance at the courtesy call was the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Okpara.

The final port of call for the team was the office of the Inspector General of Police, Tafa Balogun where Governor Adamu thanked the Police Force for maintaining peace and order during the election and thereafter. Governor Adamu said the performance of the Police in ensuring a peaceful civilian-to-civilian transition was commendable and pledged the support of the members of the National Assembly from Nasarawa state to any issue requiring their attention from the police authorities.

[Image]All the visited officers of state thanked Governor Adamu for the visit. They commended his role in National politics and well as in the sustenance of democracy. The urged him to continue as a pillar of democracy and in the role of diffusing conflict in the polity.

Accompanying Governor Adamu during the visits were Senators Danso Sodangi and John Danboyi, Hons. Hashidu, Almakura Samuel Egya and Patricia Akwashiki.
