Governor Adamu In Niger State, Commiserates With Governor Kure

Tuesday, August 26, 2003

Governor Abdullahi Adamu, in his capacity as Chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, has paid a visit to Minna, capital city of Niger State to commiserate with Governor Kure over a recent attack on his convoy. Speaking during the visit, Governor Adamu said as believers in God, the attack should be taken as an act of God. He was grateful to God for the protection granted to the governor during that attack.

Governor Adamu used the occasion to comment on the apparent security lapses around the country and urged the Police to ensure that they equipped their officers with communication tools to help them fight crime. He however urged the people not to panic as government was putting everything in place to ensure that the security of the country was assured.

Responding, Governor Kure thanked Governor Adamu and his entourage for the visit and urged God to bless them. He said the attack was unexpected and was sure that those who were arrested will reveal the perpetuators. He assured that security had been beefed up in the area and assured that such will not be repeated.

During the visit, Governor Adamu took time to visit the family of the Governor as well as send a message of sympathy to the family of a police officer who was killed during the attack.
