Governor Adamu Tasks Nigerian Youth

Saturday, September 20, 2003

Members of the National Youth Service Corps serving in Nasarawa state have been enjoined to work towards the achievement of national unity and development. Governor Adamu gave this task while opening the orientation course of the batch “B” NYSC orientation course taking place at the Keffi orientation camp.

The youth, according to Governor Adamu, has been positioned by providence as purveyors of excellent ideas, intellectual endowments and budding energies to take on the task of redirecting this great country on the path of glory. The onus, therefore, rests on their shoulders to justify the confidence the nation reposes on them. The Governor urged them to participate in the development of the Nigerian project; a society where things will work again. A Nigeria that is vibrant, focused and highly productive. A country which you and I can be proud of and where justice, peace and prosperity shall reign. Our hope for a better country is hinged on our expectation of a collective action based on our commonly defined vision of a new Nigeria.

The orientation course, which will last three weeks before the corps members are deployed to various places of primary assignment, saw the corps members swearing to uphold the tenets of the scheme. The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ubangari, administered the oath on the members.

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mohammed Onawo as well as top civil and political leaders attended the ceremony.
