Sympathizers Throng Governor Adamu’s Home

Thousands of sympathizers have been thronging the country home of Governor Abdullahi Adamu to condole him over the death of his mother. The crowds which come in early in the morning continue to stream into the country home of Governor Adamu at Keffi throughout the day.

Amongst early callers to the home of Governor Adamu were the Emir of Lafia and Chairman, State council of chiefs and other traditional rulers. The Minister of Justice, Kanu Agabi and his Minister of State, Elayo Abdullahi were also among early callers to the home. Mr. Solomon Ewugu, Former Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory; General Abdulkarim Adisa (Rtd.), former Minister of Works and Hussieni Akwanga, Federal Permanent Secretary were also in Keffi.

The sympathizers also included top government officials, political associates and friends of the family of Governor Adamu. Also Islamic clerics have been reciting the Q’uran to praise Allah for the life of the late Hajiya Aishatu Madaki and to ask God to show mercy on her soul. Being the chief mourner, Governor Adamu is expected to remain in Keffi for a least one week to receive visitors. The third day prayer for the departed mother of the Governor takes place on Tuesday, December 24, 2002 according to Islamic injunctions.

It will be recalled that Governor Adamu lost his mother at the Saudi-German hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday, December 22, 2002 and she was buried same day at Mecca.
